The LANL Foundation has several programs that assists in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), which includes teacher curriculum enhancements, educational technology, and student support (college preparatory workshops, mentoring/tutoring, LANL High School Co-op, undergraduate and graduate research assistance and more [see www.lanl.gov/education]). New Mexico Workforce Connection, Northern Area offers a variety of programs to area job seekers, disabled workers and youth, including access to current job openings, resume writing clinics, vocational training, on-the-job classroom training, applying for summer internship programs, help completing high school education or GED, as well as access to the Internet, phone, fax, and computers. Self Help's offers Consultation and Advocacy Services: Individualized assessment of clients seeking assistance with crisis intervention, case management and referral to the appropriate financial, legal, and human services entities. Staff members help clients to develop skills and resources for managing crisis and may direct them to additional agencies that directly assist with employment/employability. Serves Los Alamos, northern Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Taos counties. Clients are the working poor, or they are on a fixed income such as Social Security Disability, unemployment compensation, or assistance through the New Mexico Income Support Division.
